Friends of the Library

Welcome!

We are a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to support the library so that it can thrive in this new technological environment and provide high quality, lifelong learning. Annually, proceeds from memberships, donations and fundraising events support the library support the library by addressing library needs, improving and expanding programming, and keeping all programs free to the public. Additionally, the Friends have provided funding for numerous special projects such as One Book/One Community.

Bites, Books, and Blooms

Bites, Books, and Blooms is returning for another year! Save the date for this year's event happening on September 23rd from 6-8PM. Tickets will be on sale starting August 22nd. Check back for a purchase link! Interested in creating a book in bloom? Attend our "How to create a Book in Bloom" workshop on August 12th from 6-7:30PM. You can also check out the guidelines for creating a Book in Bloom here. If you'd like to commit to creating a Book in Bloom, fill out the Google Form linked below.

Donate to the Friends


Monetary donations to the Friends of the Library are the best way to keep Library Programs free and open to everyone.

There are a few ways to donate. You can become a member of the Friends' online by clicking here.

You can also write a check made out to The Friends of the Gladys E. Kelly Library, and either drop it off, or mail it to the Gladys E. Kelly Public Library at 2 Lake Street, Webster, MA, 01570.

There is a cash donation box for the Friends at the main circulation desk, and in the Community Room during Friends' sponsored Library events.

So many ways to be involved...


Do you love the library? Do you want to volunteer? We invite everyone to be involved - adults, teens, families - all are welcome because there are so many ways to participate. Meet new people who welcome your energy and creativity.       

Some ways to be involved include:

  • Become a Friends' member
  • Volunteer during our fundraising events
  • Come and have fun at our fundraising events
  • Assist with our ongoing book sale and the annual book sale in June 
  • Support children, tweens and adult library programs and services
  • Serve on the Friends Board
  • Promote community awareness and advocate for the library

The Friends are governed by an executive board whose officers are elected for two year terms at the annual meeting in September. Current members are:

Book Sales

The Friends sponsor an ongoing book sale in the lobby of the library. We are in need of book donations! We accept all types of books except text books, encyclopedias, or other reference materials.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email email hidden; JavaScript is required.
